FAQ | SRP Performance Series Fans
Everything You Need to Know About SRP Performance Series Fans
What makes the SRP Performance Series fans different from other fans?
SRP Performance Series fans are engineered with integrated soft-start technology, sealed IP68 construction, and efficient brushless motors. These fans are available in both direct power (universal power/ground) and PWM-controllable configurations, offering reliable performance across a wide range of cooling applications.
What is the difference between the PWM and direct power versions?
- PWM Version: The PWM version of our Performance Series fans is designed to accept a Pulse Width Modulation signal between 50–200Hz to control fan speed precisely. This allows seamless integration with most aftermarket ECUs, temperature controllers, and programmable systems that support PWM output.
- Direct Power Version: Runs at full speed when connected to a 12V power and ground source. Integrated soft-start logic eliminates harsh startup spikes, reducing current draw and improving electrical stability.
Are these fans compatible with aftermarket ECUs and controllers?
Yes. The PWM models are designed to work with standard automotive-grade controllers and ECUs such as Motec, Holley, AEM, Haltech, and others that have an operating PWM range that works between 50–200Hz.
Can I wire these fans directly to a switch or relay?
- Yes – "direct power" (non-pwm) versions can be connected to a fused switch or relay for on/off control. The built-in soft-start feature ramps up speed smoothly, reducing inrush current. PWM versions should be paired with a PWM controller; applying 12V directly without a PWM signal will not run the fan properly.
Do I need an external controller or harness?
No external controller is needed for direct power versions. For PWM fans, you’ll need a PWM signal source—but no additional wiring harnesses are required. All control logic is internal to the fan.
Can these fans be mounted flush against the radiator?
Yes. All SRP Performance Series fans are flush-mounted designs, meaning the housing sits flat against the radiator without the need for spacers or foam gaskets. The blade clearance and deflection tolerances are engineered to prevent contact, even under high-RPM operation—ensuring safe, efficient cooling in tight spaces.
What’s the amp draw on these fans?
Amp draw varies by size and load, but our brushless motors are highly efficient. Typical current draw ranges from 7A to 18A, depending on the model and voltage. Specific performance specs are listed on each product page.
Do these fans support two-speed operation via relays?
No. Brushless fans cannot support traditional two-speed relay setups. For variable speed control, the PWM model is required. Relays do not modulate speed—they only switch power on/off.
Are these fans direct replacements for SPAL, Maradyne, or Mishimoto Fans?
Yes, SRP Performance Series fans are engineered as aftermarket replacements or upgrades for common brushed fan models. They offer similar mounting footprints with improved airflow and reliability.
